Data si locul nasterii: 30 noiembrie 1951, Lugoj, jud. Timis.

Educatia: Absolvent al Facultatii de Matematica a Universitatii Bucuresti 1974.
Teza de doctorat: "Proprietati de convergenta si structura ale filtratiilor cu indici dubli". Teza sustinuta la Universitatea Bucuresti, 1986. Conducator: prof.dr.doc. Ioan Cuculescu.
Pozitii academice: 1975 - 1978 analist programator (Intreprinderea de pompe Bucuresti "Aversa"); 1978-1986: matematician (Centrul de Statistica Matematica Bucuresti); 1986 - 1990: cercetator stiintific (Centrul de Statistica Matematica Bucuresti); 1990 - 1994: cercetator stiintific principal III (Centrul de Statistica Matematica Bucuresti); 1994 - 2000: lector (Facultatea de Matematica, Universitatea Bucuresti). Din 2000 este conferentiar Facultatea de Matematica, Universitatea Bucuresti.
Cursuri predate: Teoria masurii si a probabilitatilor (curs pt. an II informatica); Probability theory (curs an II si III engleza); Teoria probabilitatilor si statistica (curs an III sectia pedagocica); Teoria informatiei (curs optional an IV); Aplicatii ale proceselor Markov (curs optional an IV).
Domenii de interes stiintific: Teoria martingalelor, lanturi Markov, probabilitati geometrice, functii reale, teoria informatiei, teoria masurii.
Este membru al AMS, ESM, SSMR,SMR si al consiliului SPSR (Societatea de Probabilitati si Statistica din Romania).
Este recenzent la Mathematical Reviews, Zentralblatt für Mathematik.
