Teoria categoriilor si algebra universala. Aplicatii ale acestora in informatica, in teoria invatarii, semiotica. Algebra logicii cu mai multe valori de adevar (MV-algebre, algebre Wajsberg, etc.).

Este membru SSMR, IASS (International Association for Semiotic Studies) si GLAU (Grupul de Logica si Algebra Universala).
Premii: Premiul "Grigore Moisil" al Academiei Romane pe anul 2003 (inmanat in 2006).
